MAEVE Des Moines is a member-supported non-profit. This means that the bulk of our operational costs, community and member programming, and charitable service is supported by the generous contributions of our members. More member contributions result in more community service initiatives and improved member benefits.

  • MAEVE Des Moines is a non-profit public benefit organization. To abide by the guidelines outlined by the IRS, we use each contribution in the following ways:

80% of your annual membership contribution supports the non-profit mission of MAEVE Des Moines, our community initiatives, and charitable service. Of that amount, 35% or less goes towards our operating expenses.

20% or less of your annual membership contribution supports members-only programming, events, and benefits.

  • MAEVE has instituted a unique approach using equity pricing, a sliding scale of $0-100+, in an effort to increase accessibility and remove the burden for those experiencing financial hardship. Paying according to one’s available resources ensures accessibility for all and also that there continues to be maximum benefit to the members, the operational success of the chapter, and the community our chapter serves. This system does involve compassion and an understanding that those who choose to give more will be offsetting those that may not be able to donate at this time.

The average annual contribution per chapter truly varies! To give you an idea (as everyone asks!), the average usually lies between $30-100, with returning members donating more, knowing the value our organization offers.

All contribution amounts are strictly confidential. Only select board members involved in the administration process have access to contribution information. Any member violating this policy is subject to expulsion.

  • There are plenty of ways you can give back to the chapter with your time! MAEVE Des Moines is always looking for volunteers. For example, you could volunteer to lead and organize a service project within our community or volunteer your time to assist the board in executing member activities. Another great way to contribute to our chapter is being on the board or in a chair position. None of this is mandatory and volunteer time isn’t tracked. You choose when and how you'd like to volunteer when the opportunities present themselves.
